D&AD

Chris graduated from the University of Central Lancashire in 2003, receiving a First Class
Honours in Graphic Design before moving back to Manchester. He then worked
at various reputable Manchester agencies including The Chase over the next three years with his
now business partner Stuart Price.

In this time Chris picked up a host of awards including a D&AD Silver Nomination, numerous
‘in-book’ pieces, four Design Week awards, two Roses Grand Prix awards, a gold New York Festivals
medal, and many other international and regional awards.

In November 2006, Chris left The Chase with Stuart Price and James Graham to set up
Thoughtful. Their client list includes howies®, the British Council, Liverpool Biennial,
National Museums Liverpool, the Soil Association, and most recently, Tate Liverpool.

Thoughtful are also currently involved in a unique work placement project with Stockport College
called The Thoughtful 6, where they have moved their studio into the College to give six
of their students a six-month work placement.

This was a good brief that tackled a serious issue. There was nothing that made me wish I had done it, which is what I was hoping for… I think the jury chose the right pieces for the shortlist. The execution of one of the winning pieces was simple and a great idea, although not immediate. When you made the effort to read it, the piece stood out.
