The Juries

Lisa Comerford -
Aboud Creative

Aboud Creative is an internationally renowned agency, working predominantly in the fashion / beauty / fragrance sector - one of the most demanding areas of image creation.

The agency's work is informed by a strong visual aesthetic, fostered by an association with leading international fashion labels, but relevant and applicable to any brand with a lifestyle bias. Over the past 20 years, Aboud Creative have worked closely and extensively with strong, creatively innovative brands including Paul Smith, Levi's, H&M and LMVH. More recently, the agency has developed creative partnerships with River Island and Neal's Yard Remedies.

Based in London, and linked to a network in New York, the agency operation is compact enough to bring style, wit and individuality to client briefs, but has the capacity to manage large, complex projects across international territories.

Lisa Comerford has worked at the agency since 2004. After achieving a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design at Bristol, she worked in several multi-disciplined design studios in New York, before meeting Alan Aboud at agency Yard. Following work on a collaborative project between Yard and Aboud Creative, Alan offered Lisa a permanent position in London. Since moving back to the UK she has worked on numerous high profile briefs that have encompassed fragrance design, fashion advertising, brand identity and retail packaging design.

Comments

I thought the brief was broad enough to let the students experiment, whilst being challenging in that FCUK is a brand many would consider to have run its course. Although some of the students showed promise with good ideas, they hadn’t really built on them through a range of executions. It seemed that only a small percentage had adhered to basic requests in the brief. The winning work stood out because it moved away from the most obvious connotations associated with the FCUK brand and answered the brief with a solution that the client had not considered before. There was also clear evidence that the winning students had fully read, understood and answered the brief; something that was seriously lacking in the other work submitted.
